Chronic Pain Awareness Month
Thank you to sunbeam for sponsoring this post!
Did you know that September is pain awareness month? Every September doctors, pain advocates, and patients raise awareness for issues related to living with chronic pain. According to the Cleveland clinic, chronic pain is defined as “pain that is ongoing and usually lasts longer than six months. This type of pain can continue even after the injury or illness that caused it has healed or gone away. Pain signals remain active in the nervous system for weeks, months or years. Some people suffer chronic pain even when there is no past injury or apparent body damage.”
Chronic pain is (unfortunately) a huge part of my life. It’s one of the top two things that limit my ability to function the most. Thankfully, I’m much more medically managed and I have more tools to help my pain now - like heat therapy! - But prior to this I was mostly housebound due to my pain.
Sunbeam is teaming up with the U.S. Pain Foundation for their Pain Awareness Month initiative #PainCounts. The U.S. Pain Foundation is a non-profit organization with a mission to empower, educate, connect, and advocate for individuals living with chronic illness that causes pain, as well as their caregivers and clinicians.
The Foundation advocates that the most effective pain care is multidisciplinary, individualized care combining many different modalities such as physical therapy, different forms of medications, restorative therapies, self-management techniques, and heat therapy.
Personally, my protocol is composed of many different modalities. Heat therapy is one of the most helpful modalities for me. I LIVE with my heating pads, especially the GoHeat™ USB Powered Heating Pad. It’s portable and small enough to fit in my bag for outings and travel, and it’s powered by a universal usb connector which is so helpful when I’m on the go! Heat therapy can also prevent the onset of pain when used prophylactically, and heat therapy can accelerate healing.
There is rarely one single solution to pain treatment. Chronic pain can manifest in many different ways which is why it’s such a challenge to treat effectively. One-size-fits-all approaches often fail for this exact reason. It oversimplifies the beast that is chronic pain.
No person’s pain is the same so it shouldn’t be treated that way. It’s important that healthcare professionals AND patients themselves continue to trial different options until finding the right ones because everyone is unique. This sounds gloomy, and it can be, but there is ALWAYS hope for relief! It can take time, but don’t give up!

How Heat Therapy Makes Traveling With Chronic Pain Easier
Are you struggling to travel or leave the house because of your chronic pain? I’ve been there and it’s so hard. There’s so little out there to treat or improve chronic pain so participating in your day-to-day life can be a struggle. Thankfully, that’s where Sunbeam comes in
Thank you so much to Sunbeam for sponsoring this post!
Are you struggling to travel or leave the house because of your chronic pain? I’ve been there and it’s so hard. There’s so little out there to treat or improve chronic pain so participating in your day-to-day life can be a struggle. Thankfully, that’s where Sunbeam comes in.
Sunbeam has a line of portable heating pads designed to help your pain levels on the go so you don’t have to stay home glued to an outlet because of your chronic pain. The GoHeat™ USB Powered Heating Pad and the GoHeat™ Cordless Heating Pad can help you go back to participating in your life!
The GoHeat™ Cordless Heating Pad is fantastic for natural, drug-free pain relief during an activity because the power source is attached to the strap. It can provide targeted, high-level heat therapy to the back, arms, legs, and shoulders. It has a flexible pad that can conform to your body so you receive the best relief possible, and it can provide heat for up to four hours on the low setting!
I love to use the GoHeat™ Cordless Heating Pad on my back and shoulders. I’ve taken it with me to wear during breaks in the middle of photoshoots, while going for walks around my neighborhood, and I even wear it when I want to dance in my apartment for self-care!
The GoHeat™ USB Powered Heating Pad is incredible when you’re traveling or trying to work in coffee shops. All you have to do is plug it into a power source like your car, laptop, or USB port in your bag and you’re all set! I now take this heating pad with me while driving to photoshoot locations and while traveling
The GoHeat™ USB Powered Heating Pad is ideal for travel for me because the flexible pad neatly rolls to fit in my bag, and it plugs into my backpack making it a continuous source of heat therapy that won’t run out of battery. You can even spray it with water for deeper, penetrating relief!
Both heating pads are HSA/FSA eligible, UL Certified, and are FDA registered Class ll medical devices. You simply cannot go wrong with either one!
Why am I so obsessed with heat therapy? For starters it’s inexpensive and drug-free! We all know how often traditional and alternative healthcare providers recommend we try something extremely expensive that might not even work. Heat therapy is a natural, drug-free form of pain relief that increases blood flow to accelerate tissue healing and relax sore muscles associated with muscle tension and stress. You can even use heat therapy proactively to keep your pain levels lower!
I’m seriously the biggest supporter of the GoHeat™ Cordless Heating Pad and the GoHeat™ USB Powered Heating Pad. They’ve truly changed my life and I can no longer imagine having to cope without them!
Blog Post Title Three
It all begins with an idea.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
