Many of us deal with acute pain and injuries throughout our lifetime, but not everyone is dealt the burden of dealing with chronic pain. Prolonged pain can significantly interfere with life and force you to make changes in order to accommodate it.

Chronic pain:

  • Lasts for six months or longer

  • Lingers even after the original injury has healed

  • Causes changes in nerve signals

  • Can occur in any part of the body

There’s no one answer to treating chronic pain. The goal is symptom management and it often takes a combination of therapies and interventions in order to lessen the pain. My pain management plan consists of medication, lifestyle interventions, and modalities such as heat therapy.

What is heat therapy?

Heat is a natural, drug-free form of pain relief that increases blood flow to accelerate tissue healing, relax sore muscles and relieve pain associated with muscle tension and stress.

Benefits of Heat Therapy:

  • Heat therapy can help with areas of the body such as: general muscle pain, back, neck and shoulder, joint or cramps and menstrual pain

  • Daily heat therapy may be used proactively to help manage chronic pain levels* (*for a minimum of 20 minutes)

I have chronic back pain due to spinal problems. My recovery program from my most recent neurosurgery includes walking every day. Even though I’m months out from surgery, I still struggle with a lot of pain, especially in the cold. This is why I love Sunbeam’s GoHeat™ Cordless Heating Pad. I Rethink Relief by wearing the heating pad during my walks outside to reduce the pain in my back.
